Welcome to Catherine T Ryan                          Art

 Catherine Ryan was born in Kent, England to  Irish parents. She returned annually on  holiday to her family in Ireland, eventually  settling in Tomduff, Co. Carlow.

Though her main career was in the medical profession, she decided to devote her time to developing her creative side and has now become a full-time artist.

Catherine’s burning need to express herself led her to explore the environment. This body of work brought Catherine to investigate the “rural “ landscape as a subject. Moody and abstract images, evokes the feeling of joy, peace and serenity. This work consists of various media including oil, acrylic, glass, silica, paper and collage.

This collection investigates the mist and heather from the mountains, rolling down to the lowland pastures, embraced by meandering streams, gathering on each of Catherine’s canvases in a sublime mixture of oil paint and texture.

Catherine continues to work and explore this inspiring subject in her studio.
